Description
Fast Internet
Located next to the “Portuguese Champs Elysées” – Avenida da Liberdade – this apartment is perfect for those who like tranquil surroundings and a touch of class and sophistication provided by branded stores, top-end restaurants and elegant streets. Right in the middle of central Lisbon, this spacious 6-bedroom apartment with a bow window and a separate dining room is ideal if you fancy the comfort of feeling at home.
DESCRIPTION
Space, comfort and class define an apartment situated in one of the most impressive buildings in a street parallel to Avenida da Liberdade. Built in the Belle Époque style, with bow windows, a lift and beautiful tiles in the lobby, it’s easy to feel like you’re in Brussels or Paris, famous for their Art Nouveau architecture. The spacious living room has tall windows with lovely painted details and an unusual bow window (these are very rare in Lisbon), which looks onto buildings from the 30s and 40s. Particularly striking is the bow window area, which has beautiful stucco decorated ceilings. There is a separate dining room with a table for 12. Bedrooms are attractive and colorful and include white laced curtains. The bathrooms have been renovated, as has the fully equipped kitchen.
NEIGHBORHOOD
Avenida de Liberdade is the most sophisticated and expensive avenue in Lisbon. Defined by a combination of Belle Époque and modern buildings as well as many leafy trees, here you can find stores of brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Carolina Herrera, Gucci, Cartier and others. 5-star hotels and top-end restaurants complete the description of an Avenue where, in the 19th century, Portuguese high society loved to walk, greet people of similar status, talk business and flirt. Yet, the area is also home to local grocers and shops as well as small, inexpensive and rather good restaurants.
Located parallel to this avenue, the apartment is excellent for exploring Lisbon given its central situation. Served by metro and plenty of buses, you can easily reach the striking Praça do Comércio, Rua Augusta’s triumphant archway and the famous Martinho da Arcada café, where the world renowned poet, Fernando Pessoa, used to have his daily coffee. Lively Rossio with its many cafés is also nearby. A bit further, in the opposite direction, is Estrela Cathedral, from where you can get a perfect bird’s eye view over the city rooftops and unending blue Tagus. Buses or the metro will take you to Cais do Sodré train station, which serves the sunny Cascais and Estoril summer resorts. Within walking distance, you have the beautifully renovated Rossio train station, from where you can reach Lord Byron’s beloved town of Sintra. The metro – Avenida metro station is a 3-minute walk from the apartment – will take you to the airport or Santa Apolónia train station in less than 15 min. Taxis also abound, so moving comfortably around the city won’t be a problem.
The apartment is just a stone’s throw from some of Lisbon’s hot spots: Marquês do Pombal square and Eduardo VII park (5min); Rossio square (7 min); Principe Real, the unmissable quarters of Chiado and Bairro Alto (20 min); Amoreiras Shopping Center (25 min); and Alfama with its many cultural treasures (30 min).

Chiado is probably Lisbon’s trendiest quarter. A colorful blend of 18th-century palaces, little squares, excellent patisseries, in-vogue restaurants, great street life and good shopping make this area one of the best to stay in. This apartment - a national heritage building because of its beautifully tiled façade - creates the perfect environment for a large group of people. It has 2 additional advantages: its central location and very easy access to public transport. So why not book this apartment and experience the perfect starting point to explore a unique European capital? DESCRIPTION On the 3rd floor of a building without a lift, this apartment includes a living/dining room, 5 great bedrooms (one is en suite and has a sloping ceiling), 4 complete bathrooms, 1 toilet and a fully equipped kitchen. There is space everywhere: the bedrooms are roomy, living/dining rooms are very spacious and interiors are comfortable and colorful (all bedrooms have distinctive colors). We love the little dark blue tiles on the bathroom walls and the ceiling and narrow window of an attic-like bedroom. The apartment includes a decorated iron railing balcony and has views over the river, cascading rooftops, charming squares and narrow sloping alleys. NEIGHBORHOOD With a map in your hand, find your way around the trendiest Lisbon quarter and surroundings such as the picturesque and alternative Bairro Alto, famous for its nightlife and good restaurants. But let’s start from the beginning: when you leave the building turn left; from here you’ll find the Carmo square and the ruins of the former Carmo convent which, before the 1755 earthquake, competed in grandeur and splendor with the surviving Sé Cathedral (in Alfama, on the opposite side of the downtown area). Stop for a few minutes and have a “bica” (espresso) in one of the Square’s cafés. From here you can either go down to Rossio, the famous downtown square or train station (from where you can take the train and visit the amazing natural jewel of Sintra), or walk down to the center of Chiado. Here you can window-shop for a while, buy a large ice-cream and explore the streets lined with elegant, 18th-century architecture. But if you prefer a more local and genuine Lisbon, simply cross Lisbon’s downtown streets and walk up the hill. Here you’ll find monuments such as the impressive 14th-century São Jorge Castle, the gothic Sé Cathedral, various viewpoints with breathtaking views over the deep blue river, lovely taverns where you can listen to Fado amateurs (or professionals), 100-year old (at least!) grocer’s shops, souvenir shops and, of course, the Fado Museum. However, if you leave the apartment and walk down the beautiful Rua do Alecrim, with its striking manor houses and the blue Tagus stretched out below, you’ll come to Cais do Sodré, another popular area, famous for its nightlife, restaurants and interior design stores. From here, walk to Cais do Sodré station and take the train along the Portuguese Riviera to Cascais and Estoril, 19th-century seaside resorts where the affluent used to spend their summers. The apartment is close to all types of transport: within a walking distance of 2 to 5 min, you’ll find taxis, Baixa/Chiado metro station, bus stops to places such as the airport, Belém (the museum neighborhood), Santa Apolónia train station (that links Lisbon to most of Portugal), Rossio train station, from where you can reach Lord Byron’s beloved town of Sintra, and even the world famous 28 tram stop. While you wait for the tram to arrive, don’t forget to have another “bica” at Brasileira café. Try to sit close to Fernando Pessoa’s statue and ask to have your photo taken with Portugal’s greatest 20th century poet!
